Vintage

Our room to boom.

It still sounds weird saying 'our'.
It has actually changed since then but still looks cool, actually cooler.

Costume

I think dabbling in costume jewellery is totally A-OK.
Diva and Bling and all thinggs nasty are yes, nasty. However the shapes and ideas these chain stores produce are affordable and beautiful. They chip, they tarnish, they change colour. But at that price you can fill every finger with loud and bright rings. Rings are very important to me and I feel naked without at least two.

An interesting point my friend brought up was the connotations 'costume' jewellery brings to mind, which is that of cheap and shitty qaulity, however often you can get stirling silver or plated jewllery for cheaper than a $400 Karen walker solid silver necklace.

I'm not saying don't have pieces that mean something to you, that you saved for, that you will have forever. I'm just saying dont be snobbish. My jewellery collection is vast and the reason I have so many great options is mostly due to either vintage pieces mixed with costume and a tiny few expensive pieces.
The Marc by Marc Jacobs in my previous post is a good example of this, they are plated so they wont tarnish as fast as something from Diva yet they are certainly not made out of precious metals.
The YSL gaudy rings are another example of this, they are made out of Tin and recycled metal. Good idea if you as me. Beauty affordable.

My babies

Marc by Marc Jacobs and Disney

I want the first one, love the black enamel with gold. Stable sell it. I would also kill for the heart one that also comes in a necklace. Netaporter anyone?

Some coolies from facehunter..

Just felt like referencing this blog.... for some reason...

I have a weird feeling someone I know will pop up on this website shortly....

Fuck Colour.

Here comes a fucking HUGE rant.

HI

This is a two pronged rant, the first espousing joy at the colour Black and the second decreeing colour pointless and a shoddy second to the king of tones: Black.

Just because fluros/bright florals/pastels are in fashion does NOT mean you should wear them.

Every single time I try to wear bright colour I end up feeling like an over-done, clashy Mc clasherson fatty.

This is not because I have abnormal skin or hair tone. If I do say so myself, one of my physical assets happens to be that I have a yellow based skin tone which means I can look OK in pretty much any colour.

But black is still better.

People with pink skin tones should have a quick look at a colour wheel. Perhaps if you look like a flushed pig all the time you should not wear oranges, yellows and pinks?? Just a thought.

Florals look so much better if they are muted or have a back ground of a tone or black. It makes them more wearable, matchable and likeable. Pair this with a black ish or tonal top and opaques with boots and you have yourself a winner.

Don’t get me wrong, I'm not preaching heavy gothic head to toe black (although that is my fav)

Peaches, creamy nudes, stark whites, soft pastels and metallic can look astoundingly beautiful when paired with the right bits and bobs. Its head to toe clashing and mismatched colour I have a problem with.

Here are some reasons behind this:

Black, pretty much without exception will always look better. It is more flattering, always 'in', can convey any emotion, trend or look; from sexy to Goth to glam. It does not clash with anything.

Now now, I know you will be think ' Uhh but what about the Dries Van Noten 2010 collection... Its so likee in Fashon roight nowww' or perhaps you are thinking about the decree Anna Wintour made about more colour in our fashion palette??

F dat.

Here is what i say to that

‘Are you a runway model?' or ' Can you pull off or afford Dries Van Noten?'

If the answer is yes then fuck off anyway, if it’s no then YAY and SCORE

You can’t wear colour.
It looks shit in real life.

Some of my best friends love colour and it looks good on them.
But they could look just that bit better if they wore more black.

I know a lot of people will disagree, but think about this: if you look back at a photo of yourself now in ten years in your pink blazer, your aqua patent heels and your crochet dress in a lighter hue or pink, Will you like what you see?

If you are wearing a black silk shirt dress from Miss Crabb however, I think you will.

Black is best.
