Lets not. This editorial hits all the wrong spots. Not only do I not want to see skeletal models in my eyeballs all the time, but I don't want to know how they get this way. This shows a terrible image of the body to the public and glamorizes; alcoholism, mental illness and eating disorders. This is about as gross as the 'holocaust inspired' RUSH editorial at the end of last months issue.
How about we do NOT promote; smoking, drinking and drugging your life away equals cool? I'm not bloody christian, thats for DAMN sure but give me some light in my life, for heavens sake. No thank you. I don't want to revel in the shit of this world. If you cannot think of any more fashion inspiration than people suffering then give the fuck up.
'Meisel does rehab' -descibed as a timeless editorial. Ughh. Get lost mate. Vogue I'm pissed.
Yes, of course... some of the images are beautiful. Its Meisel for Vogue of course it is. But still....
I am aware i left out one of the S's in RUSSH But alas am too thick to edit it
ReplyDeletePulp mag did a spread a few issues ago fearuring a skeletol girl, being pushed around in a wheel chair ( in a pretty dress), weighing herself (while looking at boots), feeling her waist ( the focus was rings) ... you get my point. Any claim that this shoot was 'self aware' or 'tounge and cheek' is utter crap. How does this stuff get pitched? It blew my mind.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. The Russh shoot was pretty shocking. And this is less shocking and more navel gazing and narcissistic. Boring if nothing else.
